About Me

About Me

It all started from a toy camera back in the days when I was grade 9. Took few pictures and then ended up breaking it somehow. I brought that camera by saving up the money by skipping tiffin. I used to work part time for my father in the pharmacy. It was sometime during 1975. I always wanted to travel and so after I completed my high school, I immediately left home and went out to explore the world on my own. Later during my first year being a freshman in the university, I brought my first DSLR costed about nine thousand taka.
In the year 1988, Asia Foundation first offered me a job to take photos for them and I was paid 50$ per day. Before that I was taking random photos and covering weddings or just chill and do my thing as street photographer or a traveler. But you see? Money is motivation! I was excited and so I travelled for them about a week or two and covered everything as required. The Director of the Asia Foundation also took my photos and organized an exhibition with those. Even better! She was such a nice friend, organizing this event made selling of photos happen. The money from all the sold products were given to me. That was it, the journey towards becoming a lifetime photographer started.

Till date, I have always worked as a photographer and always loved nature,
had rooftop gardens all his life. I have moved to a lakeside flat in Gulshan in
Dhaka (a city with only 8.5% green coverage, far below the 25% coverage)
and started planting by clearing the garbage heaps at the end of Road 55 and
found few green lovers.
Between Jan 2021 till Nov 2023, in a space of almost 2 years, he and his
friends planted few thousand saplings – both shrubs and tree varieties along
the dirt slopes of the lake stretching between road 62 – 50, an expanse of
almost 1 kilometre.
The green madness continues!
I work every morning for 3 hours while his volunteers friends join on
weekends. Some supports with saplings, some with cash.

It can be replicated
I want to extend this idea all along the Gulshan lake – Banani and Gulshan
sides. To do so, I am soliciting support from individuals, agencies interested to
make Dhaka more liveable creating green spaces.
